How does Dragon Suit Coaching work?
Progressing through the three coaching stages of AWARENESS, SKILLS and HABITS, Dragon Suit Coaching first prepares participants for the unexpected culture shock due to China’s speed, size, diversity work culture, political system and unique traditions. Coach and client also build awareness about the participant's individual communication, decision-making and leadership style, and its compatibility with the specific environment (the city, industry, firm and team) of interaction with Chinese firms and business partners.

The SKILLS stage of the coaching introduces advanced applications of intercultural leadership tools such as the Global DISC intercultural behavioural assessment, Erin Meyer's Culture Map, and methodologies for communication, negotiation, teamwork, delegation, leadership and if required, time management, strategy, product and service customisation specific to China.

The third stage of building productive leadership HABITS takes the entire second half of the coaching programme, and consists mainly of the application of newly learned skills and on-going feedback for the improvement of results. If required by the client, this coaching phase can include team members, superiors or other partners and stakeholders. The programme closes with a summary of results and suggestions for further development.

Example: The flow of a 10-hour executive coaching programme
Preparation: A one-hour Orientation meeting with client, HR and/or superior(s).
Awareness: 2-3 one-hour coaching sessions focusing on current challenges and goals.
Skills: 2-3 one-hour coaching sessions focusing on China-specific intercultural leadership methods.
Habits: 2-3 one-hour coaching sessions focusing on application, personalised feedback and results.
