Like in the lives of many executives bridging East and West, business and geopolitics mix maddeningly in the case of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance lead by Carlos Ghosn until his downfall last year. I have never seen a better cautionary tale of companies being caught in East-West economic warfare, and could not think of a better person to tell it than Nicolas Michelon, founder of Asia Power Watch, a research think tank that has published quite a few of my articles in recent years.
The outcome was a free East-West Leadership webinar on the case, which I recorded as usual. I normally post 10-15 minute clips from our webinars, but I thought Nicolas Michelon's well-researched and non-mainstream presentation of the case deserves more. The YouTube video 'The price of East-West economic warfare: Carlos Ghosn and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance' is not a full recording of the event (it's about half the event time) but delivers all the strong points Nicolas delivered. It's well worth your time.
